CHALLENGES OF FEMALE STARDOM IN CINEMA

Female stardom is a fundamental pillar of the film industry, highlighting stories and emotions that reflect the experiences of half of society and convey unique human aspects. However, achieving and maintaining this stardom is not easy, as female filmmakers face numerous challenges, ranging from production difficulties to the pressures of balancing professional and personal life. In this seminar, we will explore the challenges women face in the film industry and shed light on inspiring success stories showcased in this year’s Arab Women’s Film Days program, to learn how they overcome obstacles and achieve excellence.

DIAMAND BOU ABBOUD

Diamand Bou Abboud is a Lebanese actress renowned for her outstanding performances in both film and theater. She has made a name for herself by portraying complex and profound roles that reflect various aspects of the human experience.

With a background in acting and a passion for exploring challenging characters, she has participated in numerous award-winning productions, both regionally and internationally. Her talent and versatility have made her one of the most celebrated actresses in the Arab film industry, often taking on roles that challenge social norms and shed light on important issues.

SAMAA IBRAHIM

Samaa Ibrahim is an Egyptian actress, director, and screenwriter with a versatile career in theater and film. She studied acting and directing at the Academy of Arts and pursued art criticism at the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with excellent grades. During her time at the Egyptian Opera House, she worked as a scenographer.

In 1997, she debuted with the play Habba K.. Habba H and has since participated in several international festivals. She was awarded Best Actress at the second edition of the Cairo Monodrama Festival for her performance in the play Ana Carmen.

In recent years, she has appeared in popular TV series such as Paranormal (2020) and Al Kabeer (2022).

Mouhamad Keblawi is a producer, director, expert and artistic advisor for many cinematic projects. He also supports funds around the world. Founder and Executive Chairman of the Malmö Arab Film Festival. He worked for many years in the field of television, film production and direction, especially documentaries. He has extensive experience in project management in the fields of media production, the development of cultural and creative artistic works, with a special focus on the diversity of cultures.
