MERZAK ALLOUACHE

Merzak Allouache was born in Algeria in 1944. He studied filmmaking in Algiers at the National Institute of Cinema and later at IDHEC in Paris. In 1976, he directed his first feature film, Omar Gatlato. Since then, he has made films in both France and Algeria, with his works frequently selected by prestigious international festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Berlinale.
