Malmö – May 2, 2023
The activities of the 13th Malmö Arab Film Festival continued successfully, and the activities of the 5th day of the festival (Tuesday, May 2) witnessed a large audience for the festival’s screenings and activities.
The beginning was with a morning screening for school students, hosted by Panora Cinema, of the Moroccan film “A Summer in Boujad” by director Omar Mouldouira, followed by a discussion that brought the director together with the students.
At the Scandic Trienglen Hotel, the activities of “Make Your Film in 5 Days” and “My Film Project” workshops continued, organized by the festival in cooperation with the Saudi Film Commission to train 14 young talents. The workshop included a presentation and discussion session about Film i Skåne, and the role it has played since its foundation in 1995 in promoting film culture in Skåne. Speaker was Joakim Strand, Head of Production at the Foundation. The trainees of the “Make Your Film in 5 Days” workshop also started the editing and post-production stages of the short films they made.
The big attendance was the title of the evening screenings at Panora Cinema, which witnessed the conclusion of the feature film competition with the screening of three films: “Under the Fig Tree” by Tunisian director Erige Sehiri, “Alam” by the Palestinian Firas Khoury, and “19B” by the Egyptian Ahmed Abdulla Elsayed.
