ABOUT FILM
NYA (2024), directed by Imene Ayadi, is a short drama set in 1994 Algeria, where a young girl named Anya lives through childhood innocence while her father, a journalist, faces the backdrop of civil war. The film captures Anya’s personal struggle as the harsh realities of life begin to encroach on her world. It has been featured in several international festivals.

IMÈNE AYADI
Born in Algiers to filmmaker parents, Imène spent her formative years in 1990s Algeria. After finishing high school, she moved to France at the age of 17 to pursue her studies in cinema. Today, Imène works as an assistant director for short films, TV series, and feature films. In 2019, she made her directorial debut with the short film LE VIEUX KALBELOUZ in Algiers, followed by NYA in 2023.
