Arab Cinema: Visual storytelling in the age of communication

The explosion of communications channels is one of the most revolutionary occurrences in our time. The role of social media and new communication channels has become evident in the transformative events in the Arab region during the last decade, both socially as well as culturally, especially with focus on film. Social media has become our new window to the world, and very obvious a way to spread information over borders. How has this effected the cultural sphere, especially the film culture, in the Arab region? Has the new communication channels created more storytelling opportunities, and has it also created some challenges? Where will the new age of communication take the film culture in the Arab region?The seminar is a collaboration between Malmö Arab Film Festival and Medea, Malmo University.
